Phase one infrastructure works complete at Hollinwood Junction as Costa Coffee opens

A £2m package of infrastructure works has completed at Hollinwood Junction in Oldham, with occupier Costa Coffee’s new drive-through unit open at the £35m development.

The completion of the infrastructure by contractor I&H Brown has now unlocked a site that was previously blighted by a large redundant gas holder.   A programme of technical work is now underway to support the next phase of development, which is delivering the scheme in partnership with Oldham Council.

Contractor Stainforth Construction built the Costa Coffee unit and handed it over to the client on-time, despite the widely-reported supply chain constraints affecting the construction industry.

Simon Foden, Group Senior Development Manager, Langtree said: “I’ve already popped in for a coffee to inspect the finished job and both were excellent.  We’re looking forward to moving onto the next phase and creating more jobs and infrastructure for the people of Oldham.”

Hollinwood Junction is expected to create 760 jobs and incorporate retail, leisure, employment and up to 150 family homes.  The new Costa store has created 13 new roles.  The site is adjacent to Junction 22 of the M60 Motorway, south west of Oldham town centre.

The Hollinwood news comes on the heels of a strong set of annual results for Langtree and confirmation that it is now moving to bring forward the 1 million square feet first phase of its Parkside Colliery regeneration project, in partnership with St Helens Council.  The company now has more than 3 million square feet of commercial space under management and development.
